A serious danger to sheep as i discovered when she saw a flock and pulled so hard she broke off her leash. She singled one out from the flock for the kill and I discovered then that it's better to chase the sheep than the dog, I managed to cut off both sheep and dog and rugby tackle the sheep who running for it's life, and then grab the dog as she approached. On a freezing February weekend I convinced the people of Kilbrittain to come to a studio I set up in the town hall to sit for a minute. I took everyones details, age, occupation, whether born in the village etc etc and created a book boldly entitled 'The book of Kilbrittain' In early 2014 I engaged with the local community of my village of Kilbrittain in West Cork in a project which would enable me to photograph every soul in the village over one weekend in order to create a portrait of a typical rural Irish village as it was in 2014. The project was part funded by the Cork County Arts board and the end result was the production of a book entitled 'The book of Kilbrittain'. Along with the book a large 5' by 5' framed and beautifully printed photo montage of all the villagers was created and now hangs proudly in the parish hall. Dutch filmmaker and long time friend Finbarr Wilbrink was present to make a small documentary about the project which is online at https://vimeo.com/94774714. Soon after leaving Sarajevo the car entered high ground and the weather changed rapidly, the windows of the car froze over and a dense fog set in. Like entering some kind of dreamscape I could only make out vague shapes and shadows of things. Others in the car slept whilst I snapped, capturing fleeting images totally randomly. The doors and windows were boarded up and I didn't actually know there was a bar behind the boarded facade, it looked like a regular old Irish house. I snuck in through a back window of an attached house, the entire structure looked ready to collapse. Making my way down a dark corridor over rotting floorboards I pushed open a door and shone my light on this little old bar which has stood the way it is in the picture for over 50 years. He was sent to board at the now long gone Hibernian Marine School in Clontarf, Dublin at aged 11. He graduated at 16 and applied for a position as an Officer at Blue Funnel lines. I was in Gaza not long after the war in the summer of 2014 to do some fixing. I stayed with a great family in the town of Beit Hanoun near the border with Isreal. bit Hanoun had been badly hit, almost no house escaped the rocket attacks, the house I stayed in had three large holes from rocket hits.
